Just a moment ago I watched my wife diligently preparing produce for refrigeration. She’d made her weekly trek for our groceries and was now cleaning, disinfecting and rinsing each apple, orange, cucumber, etc, in a bath of 2 gallons of water and one cup of Colloidal Silver.
She accomplishes several things with this: the veggies and fruit are sanitized (dirt is washed off), most pesticides are removed (as best as possible since some penetrate the food), and the items are essentially sterilized with the silver colloid water. This helps keep the food fresher much longer.

So, my friends tell me my “High Dollar” purchases of organic foods and this procedure is bordering on silly. Too expensive and too much work.

Really?

Let’s take a look.

My wife loves mangos. Not me… However, there are no mangos available from the U.S.A., much less organic, at least in our Texas stores. As I travel abroad extensively, I am fully aware that most fruits and vegetables grown in other countries are sprayed with pesticides and fungicides which would NEVER pass inspection for use in America!

Since You Asked…

Since You Asked

Jerry Petermann, 2017

Many of you have asked questions over the years; questions I have found to be interesting, challenging and occasionally disturbing. Nonetheless, each deserve an answer as best as can be given without practicing medicine or giving specific medical advice. Let’s just say, my answers will address issues and attitudes and hopefully invoke science and common sense in response.

When I was only 10 years old (1960) my 86-year-old grandmother and I were having a conversation about doctors, health and things not quite right with the medical world. By that time, it had been four years since my adopted mother had died from a genetic heart condition and serious over medication for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Steroids had recently been discovered and dose rates were still being worked out. Essentially, every patient was a lab rat.

Time Challenger Labs International, Inc., maker of Time Challenger Mitochondrial Nutrition systems was recently asked to relate actual instances of product success. This is important since Time Challenger is used by so many around the country and across the world.

Time Challenger was developed over 12 years ago. The base formula was created from information gathered over the Internet and in research journals. It was the first product in the United States to address the problem of depleted mitochondria in our cells, the material which extracts energy from the food we consume. It was noted a few years earlier that aging was in fact a mitochondrial “disease” as the death or mutations of this precious material lead to our eventual demise no matter what ordinary vitamins and herbs we were to consume. The scientific research pointed to special material that, if consumed in the exact ratios and at the proper times and in the correct amounts would restore mitochondrial functions.

Sore Tongue

live life with purposeBy Jerry Petermann, 2016

It happened again! Once more I sat quietly listening to a friend go on and on about a trip to “The Doctor”.

Well, this dear friend was most certainly not referring to my virtual superhero, “The Doctor” on the British TV series Dr. Who. At least that fellow, if asked his name, can truthfully say, “I’m The Doctor”. Of course, all us fans know him to be a time-traveler of the entire universe and the very last of The Time Lords. But, that aside, he deserves the title; The Doctor.

I have a hard time with our virtual, God-like adoration of medical professionals in the USA; especially since recent statistics were made public on the ABC Evening News They stated that between 200,000 and 400,000 people die each year from medical mistakes in America. Let’s put that in prospective: at the 400,000 number it would be like hearing the news that 3 airliners with over 330 people on board each craft crashed every day for a whole year. Now, do you think that industry would even survive 1 month?

“The Doctor, Really? Well, bite my tongue, again!”

Supplements! “Who Needs ‘em?”

supplementsby Jerry W. Petermann 2016

Let me introduce myself. I am 65 years of age, live in Texas and have been a scientist in several fields over the past 45 years. My latest area of interest is the human body; more specifically, Mitochondria and Mitochondrial DNA.

Why? Well, it seems this system of unique genetic material which is found in every living cell of every human being (AND NOT GENETICALLY RELATED TO YOUR HUMAN DNA!) keeps us alive. Without it we die. By the way, without our living cells, Mitochondria dies. We have what is referred to as a symbiotic relationship with Mitochondria. Truth be told: “We just can’t live without each other!”

So, here comes the question on everyone’s minds: “You are telling me there is something LIVING inside our cells and it’s not related to us? So how did we get it and how is it passed on from generation to generation…assuming it is passed on?”

And, here’s the answer: We just don’t know. For all intents and purposes it looks exactly like a germ or a virus-like “entity” that performs a life-saving role in the human body: It “digests” our food at the cellular level and hands over (to our cells internally) a substance known as ATP. The cells in our bodies then live on it.

It’s a wakeup call for me. Mind my own business!

I sometimes let my empathy get in the way of good sense, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Let me explain:
Last week after church (150 year old country church in rural Texas) people gathered out in front to talk and share some of their previous week’s joys and tragedies and their plans for the following seven days. In the service, we had heard the preacher ask for the prayers for the sick. One of my friends had been recently diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Having done some intensive research in the last 12 years, I offered him a special crème. He explained to me he was “going under the knife” on the 20th of July and nothing could be done. I asked him if there would be a way to lower his prostate PSA numbers would he be interested. He said yes. I explained that time was extremely critical and tomorrow (Monday Morning) he should come to my office and lab. “I’ll be there bright and early! Let’s see if we can do this…maybe the surgery can be delayed or avoided completely,” he added. “That’s the plan,” I said.

So, This is Tomorrow?

piramidBy Jerry Petermann, 2016

Tomorrow? Wow! How did I get here? It sure is different than what Walt Disney told us it would be like after the year 2000!

2000! Lunar colonies, missions to Mars and beyond. Everybody has a flying car that flies itself and more. Me, I just take the monorail to work and my wife teaches school from home. Our home is solar powered and there has not been a war in almost 40 years anywhere in the world….and, no one is hungry anymore…..

Well, it was supposed to be like that, wasn’t it? And what about health care? Oh, we were no longer supposed to get sick and it would almost seem dying had taken a permanent holiday.

What happened? What always happens…war and money; or as they used to say on the 1970’s TV show, Laugh In, war is good business!

The Barrel, The Ladder & The Wall

the barrelBy: Jerry Petermann, 2016

Curious title? Yes, but illustrative for our discussion.

Often an analogy serves best to make a point. We will explore three.

The Barrel
In the world of pickles and whisky, a wooden barrel is the ideal storage vessel. Some people even advertise how their liquor or beer is aged in oak barrels. Laudable, as they even claim to make their barrels for that very purpose.

Now, in the construction of a well-made wooden barrel, the pieces known as staves, must be crafted with perfection to make a liquid tight construction. Even these “perfect” staves must be held in place by some external force; metal bands, to maintain integrity. Should some other external force be placed on the barrel, in most cases these bands will resist catastrophic failure. However, should an external force be applied to a single stave, the entire barrel might collapse, as together all are strong but individually, they are not.

The human body’s complex systems are rather like a barrel of wooden staves held together with “bands” of proper diet, exercise, mental well-being, hydration, supplementation and rest.

Drink…Yes, No and Maybe

WaterJerry W. Petemann, January 2016

Happy New Year!

That calls for a drink…right? Yes, because I’ve gotten a nasty upper respiratory bug that thinks I need to leave the planet! So what to drink?

Let’s begin with one silly question. It’s a question most Medical Doctors may never ask you but it could be a matter of life and death. “How much do you drink?” No! Not that kind of DRINK! “WATER!!! For goodness sake!” Yes, water. Let me explain:

Around this time of year people tend to lower the amount of water they consume and may become dehydrated. Also, as one ages, the body can send out signals that feel like hunger but is in reality a request for water. So, how much is too much or too little? Wait….too much…you can do that to yourself? Well, yes. And the consequences are life threatening. Let’s look at this for just a moment.
